Consider selecting a crib that can be converted to a youth bed down the road and a changing table that can eventually be put to use as a desk or computer table, so you won't have to entirely revamp the room (and spend a lot more money in the process) as your son grows older.
You might also want to think about picking up a few of the much-loved children's books with charming elephant heroes, so you and your little one can share the stories while surrounded by the images on his elephant-themed crib bedding.
